Gyres Of Weddell Sea emerges from my ongoing exploration of memory as an embodied, often turbulent experience. Through layers of paint and mixed media, the surface holds movement and weight. Thinking about spirals and time,  eddies and currents and the ability to change. I read about the Weddell Sea whose waters journey across expanses of our globe created initially on the surface by winds driving sea-ice and icebergs in a clockwise vortex, forming eddies 25-37 miles across; these vast gyres generate deep water currents that transport heat around the globe.

EMBEDDED IN THE FLESH OF THE WORLD series exploring memory embodied; reactivating gestures, marks, punctuations, recalling encounters with/in the world. I remembered walking with the wind howling around me, debris/leaves swirling; I remembered running across different terrain, sometimes falling, slipping, being sucked into the mud; I remembered hiding in the grass, swimming in bodies of water; I remembered touching, feeling, sensing, almost belonging. The physicality of my making as sensuous as the materials I use, I am embedded in these forms.  #sensuouspractice
